Lost Sheep Returns Home
On Saturday 29 July James Julias (12) told us he had been feeling
very sick, with chest pains, headache, stomach problems and finding
breathing difficult. Angela took him to the AIC medical centre where
he was diagnosed with malaria, amoebic dysentry and asthma from
pneumonia. We got medicines for him, but clearly he needed somewhere
safe to go to be cared for while he recovered.
He told us he had an uncle living on the outskirts of Mwanza. His
mother and father have separated and remarried and James was not
welcome in either home. However, when we (Max, Angela, David and
Julie) took him to his uncle, he was willing to take James into his
family and care for him. But obviously this is a big change. He
already has 3 children to care for and the family clearly had little
money. James is also quite disturbed, having run away from several
relatives before.
So James and his relatives need a lot of prayer and support as
they face these changes. James needs a school transfer from another
city in Tanzania. He also needs to learn to trust his uncle and aunt
and the new family, and to stay at school rather than running away
again.
This is really what we are trying to do. Our vision is to return
kids to their homes or to supportive families and help them remain
there. Sometimes, of course, it may only be when kids are really
struggling and at their lowest that they even think about that.
But praise God for a little lost sheep returning home, and for
the welcome his uncle offered. |
